A delightful twist on the classic whiskey sour, featuring the rich sweetness of maple syrup for a cozy and festive cocktail perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ounces (60 ml) bourbon or rye whiskey
  • 1 ounce (30 ml) fresh lemon juice
  • ½ ounce (15 ml) pure maple syrup
  • 1 egg white (optional)
  • Ice
  • Maraschino cherry
  • Slice of fresh orange or lemon for garnish

Instructions

  1. Juice one or two fresh lemons to yield about 1 ounce (30 ml) of lemon juice.
  2. Measure out 2 ounces (60 ml) of whiskey, ½ ounce (15 ml) of maple syrup, and separate one egg white if using.
  3. Fill your cocktail shaker halfway with ice. Add the whiskey, lemon juice, maple syrup, and egg white (if using).
  4. Secure the lid on the shaker and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds. If using egg white, this step helps create a creamy foam.
  5. Open the shaker and add a few more ice cubes. Shake again for another 15 seconds to chill the drink thoroughly.
  6. Place a strainer over your rocks glass and pour the cocktail. Add a fresh ice cube or two to the glass for serving.
  7. Garnish with a maraschino cherry and a slice of orange or lemon. Optionally, use a fresh twist of lemon peel and gently squeeze it over the drink to release its oils.

Notes

[‘Use fresh lemon juice for the best flavor.’, ‘Shake vigorously to chill the drink and create froth if using egg white.’, ‘Adjust the sweetness or tartness by tweaking the amount of maple syrup or lemon juice.’, “For extra foam, try a ‘dry shake’ without ice before adding ice and shaking again.”]
