These Ultimate Chocolate Peanut Butter Football Brownies are the perfect game day dessert—fudgy, rich, and swirled with creamy peanut butter. Shaped like footballs with white chocolate laces, they’re a crowd-pleasing treat that’s surprisingly easy to make.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • 3 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder (Dutch-process preferred)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¾ cup creamy peanut butter (Jif or Skippy recommended)
  • ¼ cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream
  • ¼ cup white chocolate chips (for laces)
  • ½ teaspoon coconut oil (for laces)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving overhang on two sides.
  2. Make the brownie batter: In a large bowl, whisk melted butter and granulated sugar until well combined. Add eggs one at a time, whisking well after each, then stir in vanilla extract.
  3. Sift cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder over the wet mixture. Fold gently with a rubber spatula until just combined (a few streaks of flour are okay).
  4. Prepare the peanut butter swirl: In a small microwave-safe bowl, combine peanut butter and powdered sugar. Microwave for 20 seconds, then stir. Add heavy cream and stir until smooth (consistency should be like warm honey).
  5. Pour about two-thirds of the brownie batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Drizzle half of the peanut butter mixture over the top in a zigzag pattern. Drop spoonfuls of remaining brownie batter over the peanut butter, then drizzle remaining peanut butter on top. Gently swirl with a butter knife.
  6. Bake for 28-32 minutes, until edges are set and center looks slightly underdone (toothpick inserted in center should come out with moist crumbs).
  7. Cool completely in the pan on a wire rack for at least 2 hours.
  8. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour for clean cutting.
  9. Lift brownies out using parchment overhang. Press a football-shaped cookie cutter firmly into the brownie slab to cut out shapes (yields about 12-16 footballs).
  10. For laces: Melt white chocolate chips with coconut oil in microwave in 15-second bursts. Transfer to a piping bag or zip-top bag with a tiny corner snipped off. Pipe small ‘V’ or two short lines on each football.

Notes

Chilling the brownies before cutting is essential for clean football shapes. Save the brownie scraps for snacking or crumbling over ice cream. For best results, use standard creamy peanut butter (not natural). The brownies can be made up to 3 days in advance and stored in an airtight container at room temperature, or frozen for up to 3 months.
