Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 3/4 cups (220g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (100g) packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup (240g) pumpkin puree (not pumpkin pie filling)
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/3 cup (30g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup (170g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) heavy cream
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 9-inch loaf pan with parchment paper and lightly grease the sides.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the granulated sugar, brown sugar, pumpkin puree, vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth and well combined.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring gently until fully incorporated. Do not overmix.
  5. Separate 1/3 of the batter into another bowl and stir in the cocoa powder until evenly mixed.
  6. Pour half of the pumpkin batter into the prepared pan, then dollop half of the chocolate batter on top. Repeat with the remaining pumpkin and chocolate batters. Use a knife or skewer to gently swirl the two batters together.
  7. Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
  8. In a small saucepan, melt the chocolate chips, heavy cream, and butter over low heat, stirring constantly until smooth.
  9. Once the cake has cooled, pour the warm glaze over the top. Use a spatula to spread it evenly, letting it drip down the sides.
  10. Let the glaze set for about 20 minutes before slicing and serving.
