perfect lobster tail recipe - featured image

A quick and easy recipe for tender, juicy lobster tails broiled with a rich garlic butter glaze, perfect for special occasions or elegant weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 lobster tails (68 oz / 170225 g each), fresh or thawed frozen
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped (optional)
  • Pinch of freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your broiler to high and position the oven rack about 6 inches (15 cm) from the heat source.
  2. Using kitchen scissors, cut down the center of the top shell lengthwise, stopping just before the tail fin. Pry the shell open gently and lift the lobster meat to rest atop the shell (piggybacking).
  3. In a small bowl, mix softened butter, minced garlic, lemon juice, paprika, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
  4. Brush the exposed lobster meat generously with the garlic butter using a basting brush or spoon. Reserve a tablespoon or two for serving.
  5. Place the lobster tails on a baking sheet and broil for 8-12 minutes until the meat is opaque and slightly firm with a little golden caramelization. Watch closely to avoid drying out.
  6. Remove from oven and immediately brush with reserved butter. Sprinkle chopped fresh parsley on top.
  7. Serve hot with lemon wedges and enjoy immediately.

Notes

Thaw frozen lobster tails overnight in the refrigerator or in cold water if short on time. Avoid overcooking to keep lobster tender and juicy. Use softened butter for easy spreading. For a smoky flavor, broil an additional 1-2 minutes but watch carefully. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days and reheated gently in a low oven.
