An easy and customizable deli sandwich board perfect for entertaining, featuring a variety of meats, cheeses, breads, and toppings that let guests build their own sandwiches.

Ingredients

  • Thinly sliced turkey breast (smoked or roasted)
  • Honey ham, sliced
  • Salami or pepperoni
  • Roast beef, thinly sliced (optional)
  • Sharp cheddar, sliced
  • Swiss cheese, thin slices
  • Provolone or mozzarella
  • Crumbled blue cheese or goat cheese
  • Assorted rolls (ciabatta or Kaiser rolls)
  • Classic white sandwich bread
  • Whole wheat sandwich bread
  • Wraps or flatbreads
  • Crisp lettuce leaves (romaine or butter lettuce)
  • Tomato slices
  • Red onion rings
  • Pickles (dill chips, bread & butter sweet pickles)
  • Banana peppers or mild jalapeños
  • Mayonnaise (classic or flavored like garlic aioli)
  • Dijon mustard or whole grain mustard
  • Honey mustard
  • Pesto or tapenade
  • Olives (green or black, pitted)
  • Fresh herbs like basil or arugula
  • Hard-boiled eggs, sliced

Instructions

  1. Slice rolls and sandwich bread into manageable pieces about ½-inch thick. Arrange on one end of your board, estimating 2-3 slices per person.
  2. Wash and slice tomatoes, onions, and lettuce leaves. Pat dry to avoid sogginess and place near the breads.
  3. Fan out slices of turkey, ham, salami, and roast beef on the board. Keep portions moderate and cover with plastic wrap if prepping in advance.
  4. Place sliced cheeses in neat stacks or small piles. Use small bowls for crumbled cheeses to prevent spreading.
  5. Fill small bowls with pickles, olives, and banana peppers. Scatter fresh herbs and egg slices around the board.
  6. Spoon mayonnaise, mustards, and specialty spreads into ramekins and place near breads.
  7. Fill any empty spaces with extra veggies or bread pieces. Add napkins and small plates nearby for easy serving.

Notes

Keep meats and cheeses covered in the fridge if prepping ahead and assemble the board about 15 minutes before guests arrive. Use gluten-free breads or lettuce wraps for gluten-free options. Label condiments to avoid confusion. Toast day-old bread lightly to refresh it.
