Irresistible Gingerbread Latte Recipe with Homemade Syrup

A warm, comforting, and festive gingerbread latte made with homemade syrup. Perfect for chilly mornings or holiday gatherings.

  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon molasses
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup milk (whole milk or almond, oat, coconut milk for dairy-free)
  • 2 tablespoons gingerbread syrup
  • 1 shot of espresso or 1/3 cup strong coffee
  • Whipped cream (optional)
  • Ground cinnamon (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup water and 1 cup brown sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the sugar dissolves completely.
  2. Add 1 tablespoon molasses, 1 teaspoon ground ginger, 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves, and 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg. Stir well to combine.
  3. Let the mixture simmer gently for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly. Remove from heat and stir in 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Let the syrup cool completely before transferring it to a jar or bottle.
  4. Prepare 1 shot of espresso using your machine or brew 1/3 cup strong coffee if you don’t have an espresso maker.
  5. Pour 1 cup milk into a small saucepan and heat it gently over medium heat until steaming. Do not let it boil. Use a milk frother to create foam or whisk vigorously/shake warm milk in a sealed jar until frothy.
  6. In a mug, pour 2 tablespoons of gingerbread syrup.
  7. Top with the freshly brewed espresso and stir well to combine.
  8. Pour the frothed milk into the mug, holding back the foam with a spoon until the end.
  9. Finish by dolloping the foam on top, adding a swirl of whipped cream, and sprinkling with ground cinnamon.
