Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box of chocolate cake mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 cup sweetened shredded coconut
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Optional: drizzle of caramel sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Spread the shredded coconut evenly across the bottom of the dish, followed by the chopped pecans.
  3. In a bowl, combine the chocolate cake mix, water, vegetable oil, and eggs. Beat until smooth, about 2 minutes. Pour the batter over the coconut and pecans.
  4. In a separate bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, butter, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until creamy. Dollop spoonfuls of this mixture over the cake batter.
  5. Sprinkle the chocolate chips evenly over the top.
  6. Using a knife or spatula, gently swirl the cream cheese mixture into the cake batter for a marbled look.
  7. Place the dish in the oven and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until the cake is set but still slightly gooey. Let cool for at least 15 minutes before serving.

Notes

Let the cake cool slightly before slicing for easier serving. Experiment with add-ins like caramel drizzle or peanut butter chips for a fun twist.
