A quick and easy refreshing summer drink combining juicy watermelon and fresh mint, perfect for cooling down on hot days.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups cubed fresh watermelon, seedless if possible
  • 1012 fresh mint leaves, gently bruised
  • 2 cups cold water
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 12 tablespoons agave syrup or honey, adjust to taste
  • Ice cubes as needed for serving

Instructions

  1. Cut about 4 cups (600 grams) of fresh watermelon into cubes. Remove seeds if necessary.
  2. Gently bruise 10-12 fresh mint leaves by clapping them between your palms to release aroma.
  3. Add watermelon cubes and bruised mint leaves into a blender. Pour in 2 cups (480 ml) of cold water. Blend on high for 30-45 seconds until smooth and vibrant pink.
  4. Optional: Pour the blended mixture through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a large bowl or pitcher to remove pulp. Use a spoon to press the pulp and extract as much juice as possible.
  5. Stir in 2 tablespoons (30 ml) of freshly squeezed lime juice and 1-2 tablespoons (15-30 ml) of agave syrup or honey, adjusting sweetness to your liking.
  6. Add ice cubes to the pitcher or individual glasses. Pour the agua fresca over ice and garnish with a sprig of fresh mint or a thin lime wheel. Serve immediately.

Notes

Use seedless watermelon for smoothness; bruising mint gently releases oils without bitterness. Straining is optional depending on texture preference. Chill watermelon cubes before blending for colder drink without diluting with ice. Adjust sweetness based on watermelon ripeness.
