mango habanero margarita recipe - featured image

A spicy sweet cocktail blending ripe mangoes with fiery habanero peppers, fresh lime juice, and tequila for a refreshing and memorable drink.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup fresh mango, peeled and chopped (ripe for best sweetness)
  • 1 small habanero pepper, seeds removed (handle with gloves)
  • 2 ounces tequila blanco per serving
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice per serving
  • 1/2 ounce agave syrup per serving
  • 1/2 ounce triple sec or orange liqueur per serving
  • Ice cubes for shaking and serving
  • Salt for rimming the glass (optional)
  • Mango slices or lime wedges for garnish

Instructions

  1. Peel and chop about 1 cup (150 grams) of ripe mango into chunks. Carefully slice 1 small habanero pepper in half, remove the seeds, and roughly chop. Wear gloves during this step.
  2. In a cocktail shaker, add the mango chunks and chopped habanero. Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to gently press and mash them together for 1-2 minutes to release juices and infuse flavor.
  3. Pour in 2 ounces tequila blanco, 1 ounce fresh lime juice, 1/2 ounce agave syrup, and 1/2 ounce triple sec. Add a handful of ice cubes to the shaker.
  4. Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds to chill and blend flavors evenly.
  5. Rim your glass with lime and dip into salt if desired. Using a fine mesh strainer, pour the cocktail into the glass over fresh ice to remove pulp and habanero bits.
  6. Garnish with a slice of fresh mango or a wedge of lime on the rim. Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

Wear gloves when handling habanero peppers to avoid skin irritation. Remove seeds to reduce heat. Use fresh lime juice for best flavor. Avoid over-muddling to prevent gritty texture. Shake with ice to chill without diluting too much. Strain to keep the drink smooth.
