These flaky chicken pastry puffs are the perfect handheld treat for parties, potlucks, or cozy nights in, featuring a buttery puff pastry and savory chicken filling.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups cooked chicken breast, shredded
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg, beaten

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the shredded chicken, softened cream cheese, chopped green onions, salt, pepper, and thyme. Stir until well combined.
  3. On a floured surface, roll out the thawed puff pastry sheets slightly to even out the thickness.
  4. Use a sharp knife to cut the pastry into squares (about 3×3 inches).
  5. Place a spoonful of chicken filling in the center of each square.
  6. Fold the corners of the pastry over the filling, pinching them together to create a sealed puff.
  7. Use a pastry brush to apply a thin layer of beaten egg over the tops of the puffs.
  8. Place the puffs on the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  9. Let the pastry puffs cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Work quickly to keep the puff pastry cold for flaky layers. Avoid overfilling the pastry to prevent bursting during baking.
