Make Starbucks-style pumpkin cream cold foam at home in just 5 minutes with simple ingredients. This easy copycat recipe delivers silky, spiced foam perfect for topping hot or iced coffee.

Ingredients

Scale
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) whole milk
  • 1½ tablespoons (22 g) pumpkin purée
  • 1½ tablespoons (22 ml) vanilla syrup
  • ¼ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • Pinch of salt
  • Optional: cinnamon for garnish
  • 1 cup (240 ml) strongly brewed coffee or espresso

Instructions

  1. Brew your coffee (1 cup / 240 ml). While it’s brewing, get your foam ingredients ready. If making iced coffee, let the coffee cool for a few minutes or pour it over ice.
  2. Mix the pumpkin base: In a small bowl or your frothing vessel, combine 1½ tablespoons pumpkin purée, 1½ tablespoons vanilla syrup, ¼ teaspoon pumpkin pie spice, and a pinch of salt. Stir until smooth.
  3. Add the dairy: Pour in ¼ cup heavy cream and 2 tablespoons whole milk. Stir gently to combine with the pumpkin mixture. Don’t overmix—just a few turns to blend the colors together.
  4. Froth like you mean it: If using a handheld frother, place it at the bottom of the mixture and turn it on. Slowly lift it toward the surface as the foam builds. This takes about 20-30 seconds. You’ll see the mixture double in volume and turn a beautiful pale orange. If using a French press, pour the mixture in and pump the plunger vigorously for about 30 seconds.
  5. Check the texture: The foam should be thick enough to hold a soft peak—like loose whipped cream. If it’s still liquidy, froth for another 10 seconds. If it’s too stiff, you’ve gone too far (but honestly, it’s still delicious).
  6. Assemble your drink: Pour your brewed coffee into a mug or glass, leaving about an inch of space at the top. Using a spoon, gently dollop the foam on top. Don’t just pour it—that’ll mix the layers. Spooning it on keeps that gorgeous separation.
  7. Finish with flair: Sprinkle a tiny pinch of cinnamon or extra pumpkin pie spice on top. Take a photo if you’re that kind of person (I am).

Notes

For best results, use cold heavy cream straight from the fridge. If you don’t have a frother, shake the mixture in a mason jar with a tight lid for about 45 seconds. The foam is best enjoyed immediately; the unfrothed base can be refrigerated for up to 2 days. For dairy-free, use full-fat coconut cream and unsweetened oat milk.
