Delightfully crunchy and sweet homemade apple chips with warm cinnamon, perfect as a healthy snack or party treat. Easy to make with simple ingredients and a low-and-slow baking method for ultimate crispness.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 medium-sized apples (about 18 ounces / 500 grams), Fuji or Honeycrisp recommended
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar or coconut sugar (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon freshly squeezed lemon juice

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200°F (90°C) and position the rack in the middle.
  2. Wash and core the apples. Using a mandoline slicer, slice apples into 1/8-inch (3 mm) thin rounds. If using a knife, slice as thinly and evenly as possible.
  3. Place apple slices in a large bowl and drizzle with lemon juice. Toss gently to coat all slices.
  4. In a small bowl, combine cinnamon and sugar. Sprinkle evenly over the apple slices and toss gently again to coat.
  5. Lay apple slices in a single layer on parchment-lined baking sheets, ensuring slices do not overlap.
  6. Bake for about 1 hour, then carefully flip each slice and bake for another 1 hour. Watch edges to avoid burning; apples should be dry and crisp.
  7. Transfer apple chips to a cooling rack and let cool for 15-20 minutes to crisp up fully.

Notes

Slice apples as thinly and evenly as possible for best crispness. Bake low and slow at 200°F (90°C) to avoid burning. Flip slices halfway through baking. Cool completely on a rack to finish crisping. If chips are soft after baking, return to oven for 10-15 minutes. Store in airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. Avoid refrigeration to maintain crispness.
