These buttery, crispy chicken wings are seasoned to perfection and make the ultimate crowd-pleaser for parties, game days, or cozy dinners.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds chicken wings, split at the joints and tips removed
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup flour (use gluten-free flour if needed)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon salt, or to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper, freshly ground
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola oil)

Instructions

  1. Wash and pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels to ensure they’re completely dry.
  2. Combine flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, and baking powder in a large mixing bowl.
  3. Toss the chicken wings in the flour mixture until evenly coated. Shake off any excess flour.
  4. Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 375°F (190°C). Use a thermometer for precise temperature control.
  5. Working in batches, fry the wings for 8-10 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Avoid overcrowding the pot.
  6. Transfer the wings to a wire rack or paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  7. In a small bowl, whisk melted butter with garlic powder and a pinch of salt.
  8. Toss the slightly cooled wings in the butter mixture until well-coated.
  9. Serve immediately while hot and crispy.

Notes

For extra crispiness, pop the wings into a preheated oven at 400°F (200°C) for 5 minutes after frying. Use baking powder to achieve the crispiest texture.
