A comforting casserole featuring tender turkey, creamy sauce, egg noodles, and a crunchy breadcrumb topping. Perfect for family dinners or using up holiday leftovers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups cooked turkey, diced or shredded
  • 12 ounces egg noodles, cooked according to package instructions
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup milk (whole or 2%)
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup frozen peas
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (plain or seasoned)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the egg noodles and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute until bubbly. Gradually add the chicken broth and milk, whisking constantly, until the mixture thickens (about 3-4 minutes).
  3. Stir in the cheddar cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, and a pinch of salt and pepper until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked noodles, turkey, peas, and cheese sauce. Mix until everything is evenly coated.
  5. In a small bowl, toss the breadcrumbs with olive oil. Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture evenly over the casserole.
  6. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Transfer the mixture to a greased 9×13-inch baking dish and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  7. Let the casserole rest for about 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy warm!

Notes

For a gluten-free option, use gluten-free pasta and flour. Add a splash of milk if the sauce seems too thick. Assemble ahead of time and refrigerate for up to 24 hours before baking.
