A comforting and indulgent Irish coffee recipe for two, featuring strong coffee, smooth Irish whiskey, and a luscious creamy whipped topping. Perfect for cozy evenings or special celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (480 ml) freshly brewed strong coffee (medium-dark roast recommended)
  • 4 tablespoons (60 ml) Irish whiskey (Jameson recommended)
  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) heavy whipping cream, cold
  • A few drops vanilla extract (optional)
  • 2 teaspoons powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Brew 2 cups (480 ml) of strong, hot coffee using a medium-dark roast. Pour into two heatproof mugs, leaving some room at the top.
  2. Stir in 2 teaspoons of brown sugar (1 teaspoon per mug) while the coffee is still hot to dissolve completely.
  3. Add 4 tablespoons (60 ml) of Irish whiskey (2 tablespoons per mug) and gently stir to combine.
  4. Pour 1/2 cup (120 ml) cold heavy cream into a chilled bowl. Add 2 teaspoons powdered sugar and a few drops of vanilla extract. Whisk until soft peaks form, about 3-5 minutes.
  5. Using the back of a spoon, gently float the whipped cream over the coffee so it rests on top without mixing in.
  6. Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

Use soft peaks for the whipped cream to ensure it floats properly. Chill mugs briefly to help the cream last longer on top. For dairy-free, substitute heavy cream with chilled coconut cream and use vegan-friendly whiskey and sweeteners. Serve immediately for best texture and flavor.
