A simple, hearty, and delicious comfort meal perfect for chilly fall evenings. Tender chicken simmered in rich, creamy gravy makes this recipe a family favorite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 23 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 1 packet gravy mix
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • Optional: Fresh parsley for garnish
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon butter

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken breasts with garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper. Set aside.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the chicken broth, cream of chicken soup, and gravy mix packet until smooth.
  3. Place the seasoned chicken breasts in the crockpot. Pour the gravy mixture over the chicken, ensuring it is fully covered.
  4. Cover the crockpot with the lid and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 4-5 hours. The chicken should be tender and easily shred with a fork.
  5. Once cooked, carefully remove the chicken from the crockpot and shred or slice it as desired.
  6. Stir the gravy in the crockpot to ensure it’s well combined. If it’s too thin, you can thicken it by whisking in a cornstarch slurry (1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons cold water).
  7. Return the shredded chicken to the crockpot and stir gently to coat it in the gravy.
  8. Serve hot over mashed potatoes, rice, or biscuits, garnished with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

[‘Cooking on low heat yields the best texture for the chicken.’, ‘Avoid lifting the crockpot lid during cooking to maintain heat.’, ‘If the gravy is too thin, thicken it with a cornstarch slurry.’, ‘Serve with mashed potatoes, rice, or biscuits for a complete meal.’]
