Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup tomato sauce
  • 4 cups Fritos corn chips
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup salsa (optional)
  • Chopped lettuce
  • Diced tomatoes
  • Sliced jalapeños (optional)
  • Black olives (optional)
  • Avocado slices (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spatula as it cooks (about 5-7 minutes).
  2. Add diced onions and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook for another 3 minutes until fragrant and softened.
  3. Stir in the taco seasoning, ensuring all the beef is evenly coated.
  4. In your slow cooker, combine the beef broth and tomato sauce. Mix well.
  5. Add the cooked beef mixture to the slow cooker and stir to combine. Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours or high for 2-3 hours.
  6. Start with a layer of Fritos in each bowl, followed by a generous scoop of the smothered beef.
  7. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the beef, then add sour cream, salsa, lettuce, and tomatoes. Customize with any additional toppings you love.
