Caprese Salad Skewers are a quick, festive, and crowd-pleasing appetizer featuring juicy cherry tomatoes, creamy mozzarella, fresh basil, and a tangy balsamic glaze. Perfect for Friendsgiving, holiday gatherings, or any occasion where you want a healthy, portable snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 24 cherry tomatoes (about 10 oz), rinsed and dried
  • 24 pearl mozzarella balls (about 9 oz), drained and patted dry
  • 24 fresh basil leaves, washed and dried
  • 1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • Pinch freshly ground black pepper (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons balsamic glaze
  • 24 wooden skewers or toothpicks

Instructions

  1. Rinse cherry tomatoes and pat dry. Slice larger tomatoes in half if needed for bite-size pieces.
  2. Drain and pat dry mozzarella balls.
  3. Wash and gently dry basil leaves. Tear large leaves in half if needed.
  4. In a mixing bowl, toss tomatoes and mozzarella with olive oil, kosher salt, and black pepper. Let sit for 5 minutes.
  5. Thread one tomato, one folded basil leaf, and one mozzarella ball onto each skewer or toothpick.
  6. Arrange skewers on a serving platter.
  7. Drizzle with balsamic glaze using a spoon or squeeze bottle.
  8. Sprinkle with extra salt and pepper if desired.
  9. Serve immediately or cover loosely with plastic wrap and serve within 2 hours.

Notes

For best results, use firm, fresh tomatoes and dry all ingredients thoroughly to prevent slipping. Drizzle balsamic glaze just before serving for optimal presentation. Skewers can be assembled up to 24 hours ahead; add glaze right before serving. Swap mozzarella for vegan cheese or tofu for a dairy-free version. Try heirloom tomatoes or alternate herbs for variety.
